When looking at video game sequels in general, developers usually follow a number of different paths to further expand on a beloved series. Both are tentatively scheduled for release in the fall or autumn of 2025. Maverick is said to be an extraction shooter like Escape from Tarkov and comes with a loot chest, backpack system, contracts, permadeath, and more. Ubisofts Far Cry 6 features some dangling story threads that could potentially be setting up the narrative for a Far Cry 7. According to reports from Kotaku and Insider Gaming, Ubisoft is currently developing both Far Cry 7 and a standalone Far Cry multiplayer game. ![]() Not much was relayed regarding blackbird, but the rumors suggest it'll take place in Alaska. However, after Dan left Ubisoft, Insider Gaming reports that the project was split into two a single-player project codenamed 'blackbird', and a multiplayer project codenamed 'maverick'. ![]() It's unknown whether or not Ubisoft intends to include them in upcoming expansions, DLCs, or updates. However, we're yet to see themes like the dinosaur park and the wild west, also mentioned in the survey. In addition to the Alaskan wilderness, Ubisoft's 2015 franchise survey also mentioned themes like a futuristic sci-fi setting on a different planet, and a zombie outbreak, all of which have manifested in previous seasons.
